Entering Split View
The Split View feature allows you to split your screen to work with two apps simultaneously.
The two apps in Split View can run independently without affecting each other.
Operation path
Method 1: Entering Split View by swiping up with three fingers.
1. Go to Settings > Accessibility & convenience > Split View and turn on Swipe up with 3 fingers to enter Split View.
2. Open a supported app, such as Photos, and swipe up with three fingers.
3. Open another supported app, such as Notes. The two opened apps are then displayed in Split View.
Method 2: Entering Split View from Smart Sidebar
1. Open a supported app, such as Photos.
2. Find the floating bar from the side edge of the screen, swipe inward on it to expand it as the Smart Sidebar, and then drag and drop a supported app, such as Quick note, outside of the Smart Sidebar. The two opened apps are then displayed in Split View.
Method 3: Entering Split View from Recent Tasks
1. When system navigation is set to Gestures, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold to open Recent tasks.
2. Open a supported app in Recent tasks, such as Photos, tap in the upper-right corner, and choose Split View.
3. Open another supported app, such as Notes. The two opened apps are then displayed in Split View.
Note: Only certain apps support the Split View feature.
Resize apps in Split View
To adjust the size of apps in Split View, do one of the following:
l Drag the divider up or down to shrink or expand one of the apps in Split View.
l At the top of one app, tap and choose Expand. The app window will be maximized in Split View. If you then tap Shrink, the app window will revert to a normal size.
Swapping app positions in Split View
To swap app positions in Split View, do one of the following:
l Tap the divider and choose Swap sides.
l At the top of one app, touch and hold and drag it up or down.
Saving app groups in Split View
You can save the app groups in Split View that you often work with to your Home screen so that you can open them later with just one tap.
Operation path
Tap the divider and choose Save as app group.
Opening a floating window in Split View
When your phone is in Split View, you can also open a floating window so that you can work with three apps simultaneously.
Operation path
Expand the Smart Sidebar and tap an app that is supported by Floating Window. The app opens in a floating window.
Exiting Split View
To exit Split View and go back to full screen, do one of the following:
l Drag the divider to the top or bottom of your screen.
l At the top of one app, tap and choose Full screen to display it in full screen and close the other app. Choose Close app to close the current app.
