The difference between digital earphones and analog earphones

Update Time: 2025-04-02 17:24:13

realme phones have two types of earphone jacks: 3.5mm jack and a Type-C jack.

There are two types of Type-C earphones: digital earphones and analog earphones.

    Analog earphones:

Direct analog signal input. With the help of the built-in DAC of the smart device, the digital signal is converted into an analog signal that can be recognized by the human ear. After transmission and amplification, it is output to the earphone. The 3.5mm interface earphones we usually use are analog earphones.

    Digital earphones:

earphones designed with the digital signal interface, and direct digital signal input.

1. When the earphone jack on the phone is a 3.5mm jack.

  •  3.5mm round hole:

     Support 3.5mm earphones

  • Type-C interface (charging interface):

Support Type-C digital earphones (Type-C port is a digital signal, you need to turn on the OTG switch when using it)

It doesn't support Type-C analog earphones

2. When the earphone jack on the phone is a Type-C port (no 3.5mm round hole port).

  • Type-C interface (charging interface):

Support: Connect type-C digital earphones (Type-C is a digital signal, you need to turn on the OTG switch when using it)

    Support: Connect Type-C analog earphones

Support: Connect 3.5mm earphones (requires a Type-C to 3.5mm adapter cable to connect).

Note: Please confirm with the earphone manufacturer whether the Type-C earphone is an analog earphone or a digital earphone. Generally, the Type-C digital earphone has a relatively long terminal.
