realme phone has 2 wireless screencasting methods: Miracast and DLNA direct screencasting
1. Miracast
Miracast is a wireless display standard based on Wi-Fi Direct (Wi-Fi Direct). Devices certified by Miracast will maintain support and compatibility for Wi-Fi Display functions to the greatest extent possible. When using the Miracast screencasting protocol for screencasting, the terminal and the screencasting receiving device do not need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network, that is, screencasting can be achieved without Wi-Fi. Through the Miracast protocol, we can share the screen mirroring on the terminal to the TV. This protocol usually exists on computers and large-screen TVs.
2. DLNA projection
Digital Living Network Alliance. Make digital media and content interconnected under wireless network sharing.
Simply put, it is a method of obtaining content on a phone and playing it on a TV.
Generally, video APP realizes wireless screen projection through DLNA.
Miracast usage method:
1. Select the wireless connection mode on the TV or Network Set-Top Box, and enter the Miracast wireless display interface (that is, enter the state to be connected).
2. Turn on Screencast on your phone: search for Screencast in settings and turn on it;
3. Refresh to search for the TV, find the name of your device, and click to connect.
How to use DLNA screencast?
1. The Wi-Fi network connected to the phone and the wireless network connected to the Network Set-Top Box or TV are the same local area network;
2. Turn on the DLNA on the phone;
Android 10 and above versions turn on DLNA by default, and no manual settings are required.
3. Apps that display the DLNA button: the local multimedia playback interface (including local music, local video, and local pictures), the third-party multimedia playback interface displays the DLNA button, click to cast the screen
When you need to cast a screen, search for the Screencast in the settings and turn it on. The phone will automatically search for the TV that has been successfully connected to the same WiFi before. And supports Wi-Fi Display technology (some TVs need to manually turn on the screencast function, and some older TVs may not support this function)
The DLNA function is mainly used for screencast of various video players on the phone, and the method of use is similar to that of multi-screen interaction.
Enter a player that supports screencasting, click the TV icon on the video playback interface to automatically search for available devices, and you can screencast after successful connection.
