Problem phenomenon:
5G signal is unstable and switches to 4G
Causes:
1. The 5G network is not fully covered yet.
2. Metal cases or magnetic objects can interfere with the signal transmission and reception.
3. Smart 5G will automatically switch off 5G when the phone is on standby to save battery life.
4. Without VoNR, 5G will fall back to 4G during 5G calls.
Solution:
5G switch to 4G when not calling
1. Check the Signal strength
The 5G network is not fully covered yet. If you are at the edge of a 5G zone, the signal may be unstable. You can check the signal strength.
How to check signal strength:
realme UI 1.0 & above versions: Settings > search SIM card status in the search bar > SIM card status > Signal strength.
realme R & Go & S & T Edition: Settings > About phone > SIM card status > Signal strength.
The smaller the absolute value of the signal, the better the signal. (for example, -80dBm is better than -100dBm). If the signal is lower than -105dBm for a long time, it means that the 5G signal is poor.
2. Change your location or remove the metal phone case .
3. Turn off Smart 5G and then turn on/off the airplane mode to try again.
realme UI 1.0 & above versions: Settings > search Smart 5G in the search bar > Smart 5G > Turn off Smart 5G.
realme UI R & Go & S & T Edition: Not supported
4. Update to the latest version.
realme UI 3.0 & 4.0: Settings > About device > realme UI. Click Up to date on the top to check for updates.
realme UI 1.0 & 2.0: Settings > Software update.
realme R & Go & S & T Edition: Settings > System > System update.
If the above methods do not solve your problem, please back up your data and go to the nearest authorized realme service center for testing.
Switch 4G when calling
Because 5G VoNR is not fully covered yet, and some models do not support VoNR yet, the call will use VoLTE over 4G instead of 5G. This means the phone will switch from 5G to 4G during the call. After the call ends, 5G will resume as normal. This is normal, please don’t worry.
