Phone heating when on standby mode

Update Time: 2024-10-24 14:22:37

Problem Description:

The phone is heating abnormally even in standby mode

Causes:

1. Environment temperature: The ambient temperature is too high when the phone is on standby mode.

2. Background Apps: Some apps might still be running in the background, consuming resources and causing heat. Check for any apps that might be updating or syncing unnecessarily.

3. Network Activity: Frequent searching for a signal can cause the phone to heat up. This can happen if you’re in an area with poor reception.

4. Notifications and Syncing: Apps that keep syncing data (like email or social media) can also cause some heat. You might want to adjust their settings.

5. Software Issues: A software glitch or bug could lead to excessive CPU usage, resulting in heat.

Solution:

1. Avoid Heat Exposure: When the ambient temperature is high, the phone’s surface temperature will also increase, causing the phone to heat up. Please use the phone at a suitable temperature and avoid placing the phone in a hot place or under direct sunlight.  Try using your phone without its case to see if that helps with heat dissipation.

2. Close Background Apps: It is recommended that you clear the background and close the functions that you are not using. When high-power apps or multiple apps are running in the background, or when the phone has wifi, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth and other functions turned on, it will search for signals or networks in the background, which will lead to more heating of the phone.

3. Switch to Airplane Mode: If you're in an area with poor reception, consider enabling Airplane Mode when you're not using your phone. This prevents it from constantly searching for a signal.

4. Limit Notifications: Disable notifications for non-essential apps to reduce background activity. This can be usually found in the app settings.

5. Restart your phone: Malfunctions in the phone’s operation may cause the phone to heat up. It is recommended that you restart the phone and wait for a few minutes to see if the heating issue persists.

6. Check system updates: As a last resort, please go to Settings to update the system. The latest version can provide a better user experience and system performance.

realme UI 3.0 & above versions: Settings > About device > Up to date/realme UI.

realme UI 1.0 & 2.0: Settings > Software update.

realme UI R & T & S & Go & U Edition: Settings > System > System update.

If the issue persists in the device, please visit the nearest realme Service Center for support.
